Many people still neglect daily facial cleansing. However, cleansing the face is an essential step in the beauty routine. The skin needs to be regularly freed of sweat, sebum, make-up and dead skin cells. These not only clog the pores and irritate the skin, but also form a wonderful breeding ground for bacteria.
In the following sections, we will tell you what role the right facial cleanser plays for us and what regular facial cleansing can achieve.
Facial cleansers come in a wide variety of versions. There is a suitable cleanser for every preference and every skin need. It is best to choose one according to your skin type. If you don't yet know your personal skin type, Judith has some helpful tips for you in the explanatory video:
Because cleansing plays an important role in skin care, the Judith Williams Cosmetics range offers an impressive selection of different products for facial cleansing. Below we explain the characteristics of the different categories.
Especially dry to very dry skin will benefit from a cleansing milk love. The creamy and rich texture leaves the skin feeling cared for without drying it out. In addition, the skin barrier is not disturbed thanks to the moisturizing properties, which also benefits sensitive skin.
Silky-soft cleansing mousse and airy cleaning foam offer a particularly pleasant cleansing experience due to their unique textures. They are particularly suitable for dehydrated combination skin and normal skin.
The classic cleansing gel is the favorite way for many people to cleanse. Cleansing gels are available for a wide range of skin needs, so you should pay particular attention to the formulation. A mild cleansing gel is suitable for every skin type.
Solid facial cleansers are currently very popular with many people. We are not only pleased about the water savings in product manufacturing and the plastic-free packaging. Solid facial cleanser or a cleansing powder is also the ideal travel companion because it is leak-proof, space-saving and particularly economical. Depending on the ingredients, solid facial cleansers are suitable for different skin types, although normal skin can usually use them without hesitation.
1) Forgetting to wash your hands: Hands are one of the most common carriers of germs. So before we work the cleanser into our face with our hands, we should wash them thoroughly with soap. Otherwise, there is a risk that we will spread unpleasant pathogens on our face, which is definitely not the goal of facial cleansing.
2) Do not remove makeup: If you enjoy full-face make-up or simply love waterproof mascara, you should at least roughly remove the make-up before actually cleansing. A toner with micelles is ideal for this.
3) Don’t take time: Even though applying skincare and makeup is more fun than cleansing, we should still allow ourselves enough time for it. A thorough cleansing takes more than just a few seconds. The cleanser is worked into the skin for about a minute, and we can also use this opportunity for a light facial massage.
4) Washing too hot: Hot water can irritate sensitive facial skin and attack the natural protective barrier. For this reason, it is best to use lukewarm water to cleanse the face.
5) The cleansing ends on the face: When cleaning your face daily, don't forget to clean your neck, throat and décolleté. The same applies to applying skin care products. True beauty queens also apply serum, skin care cream, sunscreen and the like to their neck and décolleté.
6) Rub dry: Please avoid vigorous rubbing, scrubbing and pulling on the skin. This is especially true for the sensitive facial area. Instead, gently pat the skin with a soft, clean towel.
7) Wait with care: It is easier to distribute care products evenly on slightly damp skin than on dry skin. Active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid are even more effective on slightly damp skin. We therefore recommend not waiting too long after cleansing to carry out further care steps.
We recommend cleansing your face in the morning and evening. While intensive cleansing in the morning is not a must for uncomplicated skin, it is a must in the evening. This is especially true if you wear make-up. In order for your skin to regenerate optimally at night, you need to remove the day's residue and dirt.
Summer skin does not have the same needs as winter skin. While a gel or foam can often be sufficient for the needs of our skin in summer, stressed winter skin benefits from the nourishing properties of richer cleansers such as cleansing oil, cleansing milk or cleansing balm. These variants do not dry out stressed skin and have moisturizing properties.
The ideal facial cleanser is both mild and effective. Make-up, dirt and sebum should be thoroughly removed, but the skin's protective layer should remain intact. If you value mild cleansing, you can pay attention to aspects such as the pH value or the surfactants used. However, since not every product works equally well for every skin type, the rule is always: try it out and listen to your skin.
